Has anyone identified a straight forward method to modify the database search path for PipeDesigner from the default:
C:\Program Files\QuickPen\PD3D\data
to a network path?

It's not recommended to path the database to a network drive.

At least thats the answer I get all the time.

Well, this isn't really a recommendation. It kind of a "No you can't do that." sort of thing.
PD3D has the path hardcoded in the program. If you want to say, share a database. That you can do.
Please look on the CD under extras. There are a couple of batch files that will let you place the database anywhere, network drive etc.
This option is not supported. I wrote it ages ago and put in what I hope are good instructions. But let me repeat, not supported.
What it does is copy the database from where ever to the default location on your local drive.

Seems like this and a few other things need to be rolled into production.

Blah, blah.. oh I mean yes absolutely.

This in particular is coming. We will be revisiting PD3D within the year and moving it to a format similar to DD3D. (And no, I make no promises of when.)
As always, if you want something, send me an e-mail with SPECIFIC details and I will put it in as a user request.
If enough people want something, it will in all likelihood make it into the program.
Things are moving internally much better than ever before. We are doing serious development of our CAD based software now.
I can promise that you will see vast changes in the future and that future isn’t all that far away.
