What does everyone do for hangers? The powers to be here want hanger locations placed on the dwg's for aid in layout with a robotic total station. This is to also include hanger type, rod size/length, ect...

We just do without. PD3D's hanger palettes are too clunky - hard to find what you need without a Michigan (or whatever brand it is) catalog at hand. The rods in the hanger spec work OK, though. They'll BOM the lengths for you like pipe.

Doing without is not an option here, The higher ups want total prefabercation.
I'm not looking for 3D hangers but something that can be placed and exported to a list or table. I'm going to look into dynamic blocks...
Can you elaborate on the "clunky" hangers?
I would be interested in feed back.

Matt,
It's just too much trouble for me to copy the Anvil blocks and give each one new Data-Maker info, and if the hanger I need is different dimensionally from Anvil I have to draw a new 3D block. If they were parametric objects (and I can understand why adding hanger classes wouldn't be on the top of your list of priorities) it would be as simple as any PD3D fitting. But I don't have a pressing need to show or count hangers and I'm OK without them at present.
Sorry about the critical tone of my previous post. I think PD3D is a great product overall and don't expect it to do everything your competitors charge twice as much for.
I have no problem with critical tones!
I'd just like to build a better product.
How about (Except for dimensional diffs.) go in to te Data Editor and change info there to show up in the bom?
Some data attached to Hangers in parametric, thus you can call it what ever you like.
Not a perfect solution obviously, but may be this will help.

Using 3D hangers is not I'm looking for, The 3D ones are nice but it's just fluff IMHO.
What we're getting ready to dive into is using total station to layout hangers, sleeves and groundwork. I need a way to place nodes that can be related to hanger types for a BOM and to be picked up by the total staion software as well.
I think that should be done too.
