Anybody tried making a section yet?
While it beats manually drawing one,I suppose, it does seem quite cumbersome.
I think the boss is going to try upgrading our video cards and that should help the ultra-slow task of adjusting the clipping planes.
I just wish that ABS/ADT would have left the "section plane" command intact as it would have been a little nicer than clipping planes.

Ahhh sections.
We've tried... and not had success. THIS is a big one on our "wish list".
The clipping planes are not practical at all. They are cumbersome.. and like you I was hoping a better video card would solve the problem.. so we loaded a drawing on our top workstation and tried... still not faster. At all
Clipping planes work great on a very small drawing.. but when you get to the scale of projects that we do.. they just can't happen.
Few things we've done
2D (sucky low tech method)
Redraw the section area in AutoCad MEP (Building Sys.)
No sections (just enlarge the area and note the heck out of it)
and "sectionplane" still works... you just have to change your profile to "3D Modeling" to cut the section.. then return to your regular profile to continue drawing. But you probably knew this already

No i didn't, thanks for the info. I gather you tried "sectionplane" and it didn't do any better?

Yep...
tried sectionplane
failed sectionplane
works as it should with AutoCAD entities.. but it treats DD3D etities like a red headed step-child...~no offense to any red headed step-children that may see this 8^) ~
