Mechanical Estimator Job Description:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Review project plans, requirements and specifications; Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing; Coordinate subcontract solicitations; Determine labor and construction equipment costs using QuickPen Autobid mechanical software; Compare competitive trade bids; Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with management and/or customer; Secure all bid documents, including bid forms and quote letters; Prepare subcontractor bid list; Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award; Maintain positive relationships with vendors suppliers and subcontractors; Other duties as required by Estimating Management.
Experience: Construction Management, Engineering or Architectural Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings; Working knowledge of construction costs and principles; Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations; Practical understanding of spreadsheets; QuickPen piping experience required, QuickPen sheetmetal experience a plus.
Ideal candidate experienced with Government contracts, including military, Federal and State entities. Average projects range from $1mm-$50mm+. Position based in Southeast U.S.
