I need to add some special parts to a waste water job I'm working on and I am curious as to how I can add QPI intelligence to AutoCAD blocks for connection purposes. I also want to be able to have the auto BOM pick up these parts with annotations when it is created.

Does anyone know how to do this.

Once you have created your part (block) go to the pull-down Valve Operators/Equipment and select the QPI Data Maker and input your information.

Thanks! I am also having trouble with these blocks not showing up when I try to spool out the model. I was wondering if it's because they are not pd3d entities. Is there a way to actually make them a part.

I’ve encountered the same problem that you have mentioned. I mainly work on mechanical rooms – and only a few of the parts can be created using Quick Pen, other than that I create the objects in AutoCAD. Normally these parts are like boilers, chillers, specialty air separators, heat exchangers, etc. I don’t normally include them in my bill of materials because the parts are all ready ordered. So long story sort – I went into one of those drawings and attempted to add intelligence to the part and then spool it for fabrication. First off I had trouble adding intelligence to the part, so I thought I’d just try to export it. No dice.. I think the reason the AutoCAD blocks don’t make it over when a spool sheet is run, is because it needs Quick Pen intelligence added to it so it can be counted in the spool sheet. I’d suggest talking to Quick Pen..

I just went to PD3D 3 weeks ago and they said the new update is supposed to be out at the end of this month or first week in Sept.

On the new release what all did they say would be in it? I've been told that there will be hangars and carriers, which is great but I as well as others I'm sure, are curious what else might be in the release.

They told us that carriers, hangers and alot of other manufacturers are coming on board along with the vic, nibco, Cajon...etc.
